Today was a tiring day. This was my first time taking an international flight. I was super excited. I really did not know what to expect. I felt like I was not prepared at all for any of the travel. I was trying to figure out my carry-on items, and how I was going to survive the 8 hour flight. Gladly, I survived, and the airplane food wasn't too bad.
My first impression of Paris was…”wow it’s so wonderful” and wow “it’s still pretty dark out at 8 in the morning.” The sun was just about to rise while we were preparing to land into the Charles de Gaulle Airport, and I asked a passenger by the window to take a picture for me.
Getting off the plane in Paris was amazing. Instead of getting off into a building, we landed outside where we actually had to take a set of stairs down into the plane parking area and then onto the shuttle bus to get to our baggage claim.
I’ll forever have a great view of Paris from above. Driving into Paris was terrifying, but amazing as well. The traffic was crazy. Just walking past people and hearing french conversations instead of english ones felt so REAL. I can not help but smile every time I remind myself with, “hey you did it, you are in Paris, France.” I haven’t done anything yet and it is already really amazing! I already know that I will never forget this experience.
My roommates and I are further down, but that’s okay because we get some exercise on our way to school every morning. Settling into our tiny, but very cozy, apartment was such a great feeling. We live on the 3rd floor, or the troisieme etage. The elevator is small but is supposed to be able to fit four people.
Orientation was long because it felt like Monday and Tuesday were merged together. Nevertheless, we pulled through. We had our taste of the metro, the bus, and Paris tonight. It was perfect! Transportation seemed pretty easy to use, so I’m definitely going to be exploring while I’m here. The food was amazing! We ate at a little place down the street from the Paris American Academy. We had champagne, white wine, boeuf borguinion, a salad, et mousse de chocolat. It was delicious! Ended the night walking back to my apartment and relaxing.
My first night and first time settling down to sleep in Paris is quite nerve wrecking. I am not sure what to expect, but I feel like the night ended great, and I’m really to sleep.
